We Are All Beautiful

We live in a world of beauty filters, contouring, and so many makeup and hair products I can’t keep up. Young people are comparing themselves to each other at an alarming rate through social media and various other media outlets. They are comparing themselves to people online who they don’t even know. That is why more than ever we must let the youth know as well as adults, God created you in his likeness, and you are beautiful. From your skin complexion to your forehead size, to your hair texture to your body shape. We were all created unique, different, and beautiful. Just like a person’s fingerprint, no one person is the same. We are all beautiful!

One woman who decided to do something about this is Pamela Watson. She recalled the incident where she was standing in her kitchen, and her beautiful five-year-old daughter came in and asked her, “are black people mean and dirty?”. Her daughter explained a girl at summer camp had made that statement on the playground. Mrs. Watson heart dropped, and she and her husband proceeded to tell their daughter she was beautiful, and God created her in his image. After this incident, God gave her the idea to start Beautifully Hued. Her daughter is the founder. She took the situation and turned it around. Beautifully Hued is a project that focuses on educating, empowering, and inspiring all girls by showing them that they are beautiful inside and out. Beautifully Hued has existed for about five years. Recently Beautifully Hued hosted a diverse slumber party. During the slumber party, one African American girl did not want to wear her bonnet to bed. Through education, she was told not to be ashamed; because everyone is created differently. Beautifully Hued was also recently involved in mentoring a group of teenagers at a local middle school in Columbus, Georgia. Throughout the year, the girls were poured into and told how they all have goals and a purpose of impacting the world. According to Mrs. Watson, Beautifully Hued will be her daughter’s legacy and will impact society significantly. The vision God gave her will go into global territories. By embracing the differences that God gave us, we will all go far in life.

God created us all beautiful. We have children looking up to us and keep in mind they are modeling everything we do. It is our responsibility to let them know how amazing and awesome they are. So yes, we might all be different shapes, sizes, complexions, and cultures. Remember in Gods eyes we are all beautiful! You can follow Beautifully Hued on Instagram and Facebook @ Beautifully Hued.
