Welcome to 2019! This year we have all heard New Year New Me, but let’s be honest sometimes it’s our same habits. Therefore, we should incorporate fitness and healthy eating as apart of our lives. So this year I made my new workout routine. Which is what I used to do then stopped. It happens to us all we will start off really well and then stop. The positive part is we can always start again. You must make a workout routine that works for you. I started my fitness journey working out in the 8th grade to my mom’s Billy Blanks Taebo tapes and Donna Richardson fitness videos. Yes I said workout tapes it was the 90s. Then in high school I cheered and that was a form of exercise. I used that Taebo tape into college until it literally busted. I have started back with my fitness routine that works for me. This Saturday after my workout routine it was time to do what? Yes, that’s correct eat. I called my friend Desiree Cummings and said let cook a healthy meal. Desiree Cummings for the past couple of years has been on a fitness journey. She enjoys eating healthy and whole foods. As a fellow Social Worker in different fields but she still understands the late nights and grabbing a quick bite to eat. Which all of us can relate to. She started to enjoy cooking and fell in love with the process. Her Instagram is one of those pages with yummy looking meals. So we proceeded to cook salmon taco’s and an apricot salad (recipe below). It turned out delicious and only about 25 minutes to make it. According to Ms. Cummings she enjoys trying different workout routines such as ballet and salsa dancing. She is also an anointed praise dancer that gets closer to God through her lyrical dance. God takes us on our own journey and everyone’s will be different. God also wants us to be healthy and have energy to do what he has called us to do and run this race. So go to the doctor and do a workout routine that works for you. Some of us will walk, some will run and some will climb mountains. Whatever we do let’s do our best! Apricot Salad

2 cups of Kale Salad
2 cups of Arugula
1 chopped tomato
1 chopped green onion
1 cup of almonds
1 cup of apricots

Served with lemon dressing
