I Wanted Purple Hair

I‎ was‎ thinking‎ about life‎ this‎ morning.‎ Funny‎ how‎ we‎ will‎ have‎ our‎ minds‎ made‎ up‎ about‎ some‎ thing‎ and‎ then‎ let‎ some‎ one‎ talk‎ us‎ out‎ of‎ it.‎ When‎ you‎ think‎ about‎ it‎ it’s‎ dangerous.‎ I‎ remember‎ when‎ I‎ was‎ about‎ 20‎ years‎ old.‎ I‎ went‎ to‎ my Atlanta‎ hair‎ dresser‎ and‎ I‎ told‎ him‎ I‎ wanted‎ to‎ dye‎ my‎ hair‎ purple. I had my mind made up and I was ready.‎ I‎ was‎ so‎ serious, I had the picture in my hand and everything.‎ The purple was not a bright‎ purple‎ but‎ a‎ deep‎ subtle‎ purple‎ like in the‎ magazine.‎ I‎ figured‎ it‎ would‎ be‎ the‎ perfect‎ time‎ in my life to‎ get‎ purple‎ hair.‎ So‎ I walk into the salon‎ confident and showed‎ him‎ the‎ picture.‎‎ He‎ looked‎ at‎ the‎ picture and‎ looked‎ at‎ me‎ and‎ said‎ “you‎ sure‎ you‎ want‎ purple‎ hair”.‎ I‎ said‎ yes‎ then‎ he‎ said something to the effect‎ “I‎ don’t‎ think‎ you‎ want‎ that color, I think you want something else”‎ and turned the chair around‎ .Then‎ I‎ begin‎ to‎ doubt‎ myself‎ did‎ I‎ really‎ want‎ purple‎ hair.‎ Then‎ he‎ said‎ with a smile I‎ will‎ give‎ you‎ a‎ color‎ that‎ I‎ really‎ think‎ you‎ will‎ like.‎ So‎ I‎ said‎ okay, thinking it would be close to purple.‎ I‎ proceeded‎ to‎ let‎ him‎ color‎ my‎ hair‎ when‎ he‎ turned‎ me‎ around‎ in‎ the‎ chair, I was excited.‎ I‎ held‎ the‎ mirror‎ to‎ my‎ face‎ and‎ it‎ was‎ the‎ same‎ hair‎ color‎ he‎ always‎ did!‎

You‎ might‎ ask‎ why‎ are‎ you‎ talking‎ about‎ purple‎ hair.‎ What‎ is‎ your‎ purple‎ hair‎ moment?‎ Who‎ told‎ you‎ “naw‎‎ I‎ dont‎ think‎ you‎ want‎ to‎ do‎ that”. It was not entirely his fault I could have stood my ground but I doubted myself.‎ Never‎ let‎ someone‎ talk‎ you‎ out‎ of‎ something‎ because‎ it‎ makes‎ them‎ uncomfortable.‎ Good‎ counsel‎ and‎ good‎ advice‎ is‎ a‎ great‎ thing.‎ Thank them for thier concern. Pray‎ about‎ your purple hair moment‎ and‎ if‎ all‎ roads‎ lead‎ to‎ getting‎ purple‎ hair‎ then‎ guess‎ what‎ go on and get your‎ purple‎ hair!!!!‎!!

  1. This is so very true!!! And funny thing is I had a similar story with a stylist…🤷🏾‍♀️

We should all strive to live the best version of ourselves because at the end of the day what do you think about yourself is what is most important.

  2. Believe it or not, I had a similar conversation with my daughter; go for whatever you desire and trust God will deliver.
